Are you ready to change your life? Are you looking for a friend that you can go to the movies or dinner with or are you looking for someone that you can build a relationship with and possibly marry? No matter what your goal, online dating is a great solution. However, to be successful, you have to learn how to leave a lasting impression. Remember, you will be vying for the attention of someone right along with hundreds of thousands of other people. Now, that is not to be discouraging, just that you need to know how to put yourself ahead of other people.

Start by looking at your past relationships to identify what went wrong. Many times, people will go from one failed relationship to another without giving any thought whatsoever to things that could have been improved upon. Your past in-person relationships are very important to the way in which you will approach online dating. Think about the entire relationship and determine how you want the next relationship to be different. Then, if you start communicating with someone and start to see some of those same failed behaviors, you know to stop the communication process and move on.

Since online dating is different in a number of ways from in-person dating, you have to find ways of making someone interested. For starters, when you receive a message from someone, even if he or she is not at the top of your list, you should respond. Now, the only exception would be if the initial message was offensive in any way or you simply felt very uncomfortable about the person’s profile. The reason this is important is that most online dating services will show the percent of messages you respond to, so if you were a woman only responding to 29% of messages, other men would probably hesitate in trying to communicate with you and vice versa. Remember, if you are not compatible after the initial message, then you do not have to keep sending/receiving messages.
