When you meet someone through an online dating service, whether to start a friendship or to fall in love and live happily ever after, you want to be attracted to the heart and soul of that person. Instead of making your decisions based on the appearance, you want to focus on what is inside. However, it is a known fact that most people are naturally attracted to what they see. Therefore, while the profile is most important, photos do count.

To increase the success of your online dating experience, you need to post a photo. In fact, you should post two or three photos that are current, clear, and show some of your personality and character. One photo should be a good headshot and another photo a full body shot. If you have children, do not post them even if tempted. However, if you have a pet and want to keep your profile on the light side, include photos of them. Interestingly, the current statistics show:

Women are 8.5 times more inclined to view profiles with photos.
Men are 14 more times inclined to view profiles with photos.
Both men and women that post photographs receive as much as 15 times more attention than profiles without photos.

If you do not have a good, current photograph, this is the time to invest in a professional service to have some taken. Even if you have a friend or family member with a good digital camera, that would work just fine. Since most online dating services offer the option of free photo posting and since having a photo in your profile will dramatically increase your chances of being noticed, why would you not have one posted?
